Tutor A

A was initially an Olympiad mathematics prodigy but switched focus to informatics in Year 9. By Year 10, he clinched a gold medal in the Australian Informatics Olympiad (AIO), though narrowly missed qualifying for the training camp. Undeterred, he worked even harder in Year 11, winning another AIO gold medal and finally securing a spot in the National Informatics Training Camp. In Year 12, his efforts paid off as he joined the Australian national team and earned a silver medal at the IOI.

A’s story inspires our students, as it highlights that scoring high enough to enter the training camp in Year 11 is significantly harder compared to lower grades—requiring over 100 more points. Many students give up after failing to qualify in Year 10, even if they win AIO gold. A’s perseverance proves that talent alone isn’t enough; effort and determination are equally crucial in competitions.

In 2026, he won the world championship in the MIT Battlecode competition.

Thanks to A, we’ve added beginner C++ courses, intermediate AIOQ 3 & 4 classes, and programming holiday training camps.
