Why is there a significant gap between the results of UNSW's high school programming final competition and the first round of the Main Round every year? This is because in recent years, the University of New South Wales (UNSW) has scheduled the final competition to be held in the same week as the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), and members participating in IOI often prioritize international events. In fact, UNSW attaches great importance to IOI athletes and provides an annual scholarship of AUD 7000 to students who win IOI gold medals, totaling AUD 28000 over four years, with an additional 10 points added to their college entrance examination scores. Therefore, the school clearly values IOI athletes. UNSW has set a very generous prize money for the ProgComp competition.
